Cloud Infrastructure & Engineering Leader
Are you a seasoned IT Infrastructure leader with deep hands-on expertise in data center and enterprise infrastructure management within the financial sector? We are seeking a strategic and driven IT Infrastructure Architect to oversee, optimize, and innovate our local NY data center and co-location infrastructure.
Join a mid-sized asset management firm offering a stable working environment, a very good benefits package, and the opportunity to make a tangible impact through the systems and solutions you design. Our relationship with this client spans more than two decades, giving us an in-depth understanding of the business.
This is a hands-on leadership role: you will architect cloud and infrastructure solutions, lead and mentor a small team of systems engineers, and work directly through technical design and operational challenges. You will help move the firm toward cloud-first infrastructure while keeping critical services reliable in a regulated, 24x7 environment. Alongside AWS architecture and delivery partner oversight, your remit covers virtual desktop services and the foundations for data and AI initiatives.
This is a full-time direct hire role working hybrid onsite 2 - 3 days per week in Midtown Manhattan with an organization that offers competitive compensation and a great benefits package.
This critical role offers the opportunity to ensure the stability, security, and compliance of our core banking operations. If you are a proven leader with a stable career history and a passion for driving IT excellence, we want to hear from you.

- Take architectural responsibility for AWS foundations: Landing Zones, account structures, VPC networking and connectivity, identity and access, security, observability, and recovery capabilities.
- Direct migration and re-platforming programs, using architecture reviews, proofs of concept, and engineering standards to guide delivery.
Keep Critical Services Reliable
- Oversee round-the-clock infrastructure services and provide senior technical direction when major incidents require escalation.
- Set expectations for automated provisioning, configuration control, security, monitoring, incident response, change control, and operational documentation.
- Manage cloud expenditure through forecasting, optimization, resource tagging, and cost allocation, including showback and chargeback.
Lead Engineers and Delivery Partners
- Lead and mentor a small team of systems engineers, working alongside them on architecture, solution design, and technical problem-solving, with clear ownership of engineering outcomes.
- Oversee providers and delivery partners, including managed service providers, systems integrators, and consultants, across cloud and end-user services.
- Manage commercial and service performance through contracts, statements of work, service-level commitments, KPIs, reviews, budgets, risk controls, and escalations.
- Ensure external delivery meets internal architecture, security, regulatory, documentation, and operational requirements.
Enable Desktop, Data, and AI Services

- Guide desktop design across identity integration with Entra ID and Active Directory, networking, security, FSLogix profiles, image management, application delivery, capacity, availability, and recovery.
- Work with application, data, security, and architecture colleagues on infrastructure for AI-assisted development, enterprise data lakes, analytics, machine learning, and generative AI.
- Assess cloud services and engineering approaches for these initiatives, balancing scalability and innovation with security and governance.
Requirements include
- A bachelor's degree and 8-10 years in enterprise infrastructure, cloud engineering, or architecture, with substantial leadership responsibility.
- Practical experience acting as the technical authority for large-scale AWS architecture, covering Landing Zones, multi-account environments, networking, IAM, security, monitoring, resilience, backup, and disaster recovery.
- Experience building infrastructure through code with Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation.
- A track record of delivering cloud migrations, modernization, or wider infrastructure change.
- Experience leading and mentoring a small engineering team while remaining hands-on in systems architecture, solution design, and technical escalations.
- Evidence of managing technology vendors and service partners, including delivery governance, SLAs and KPIs, service reviews, contracts or statements of work, escalations, and financial oversight.
- Experience keeping business-critical production systems running in a 24x7 environment.
- A background in financial services or another highly regulated sector.
- The ability to communicate with executives, work effectively with stakeholders, exercise sound technical judgment, and produce clear documentation.
